Vince Gilligan Discloses He Knows How The Apple TV+ Show Will End... At the Moment.
Vince Gilligan never anticipated that his new science-fiction series would become a cultural phenomenon. “The viewers have been incredible,” he remarks. “I was surprised by the show being as talked about as it is, and it makes me deliriously happy.”
Now that Season 1 of the hit sci-fi show reaching its finale—and a second season officially in the works—Gilligan and his team recently discussed the audience reaction and whether it will influence the narrative path of Pluribus.
About the Incredible Viewer Reception
One could easily to get sidetracked by the constant speculation and audience predictions about Pluribus. The creator is doing his best to steer clear of all that.
“It's like being constantly eating your favorite dessert and being in a state of bliss,” he says. “It's amazing, but I get wind of it from others, and that's on purpose. Not once have I Googled myself, nor do I ever plan to. Not because I don't care. It's a bottomless pit I know I would disappear down and then I'd be living in squalor from the hardware store and I'd be stuck in my living room.”
Despite trying to stay away, there’s no way to avoid the overwhelmingly positive response to the series. The most practical strategy is to take it in stride and try not to let it dictate the story of the show.
“We make no attempt to change the plot,” says writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock. “The plot we develop is not influenced by what people are saying.”
“Better to keep our focus on the work,” Gilligan concludes.
A Pressing Query: Has the creator Have a Plan for the Finale of Pluribus?
Given that Gilligan and his team aren’t being guided by public opinion, does it imply they already know how Pluribus will finally conclude? In short yes… in a way.
“There are some compelling concepts about how the story could conclude,” Gilligan reveals. “yet we stand ready to throw out a solid concept for a better idea. That philosophy has guided us in well on Better Call Saul and on Breaking Bad even before that. We throw stuff out when we get a better idea and I suspect we'll be doing that.”
On the other hand, if they hit a wall, executive producer Gordon Smith has a pretty funny idea to fall back on.
“I constantly suggest that it's all in a snow globe, and that we'll zoom out in the finale and the characters are inside it,” Smith jokes, “but no one is buying it.”
Alternatively, one could always use the legendary finales?
“My dream is Carol to open her eyes beside Bob Newhart,” he jokes.
