The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting Versus the Dodgers

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their first championship series following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the AL Championship Series.
Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder hit a three-run homer in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 win in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "This is such an amazing experience."
Springer has now hit 23 October home runs, ranking him third all-time behind Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine anyone else anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment other than him with his playoff prowess," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" after his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their performance this season.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we finished on the wrong side of this game," he continued.
Toronto secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
