Six Suspects Apprehended After €12 Million Armed Raid on Gold Processing Laboratory in France

A group of six individuals carrying high-powered firearms employed explosives to force entry into a gold treatment facility located in the city of Lyon, slightly injuring five employees during described as the latest high-profile broad daylight robbery to occur in the nation.

The audacious robbery took place on Thursday late morning, with law enforcement authorities swiftly apprehending the alleged criminals and securing the stolen items valued at approximately €12 million (10.5 million pounds), according to officials.

Five workers of the precious metals facility received light wounds due to the explosion, and three individuals were taken to a medical facility for evaluation, the regional prefecture announced. A total of twenty-eight staff were at the location when the perpetrators raided.

The individuals, thought to be experienced criminals, were taken into custody soon afterwards in the nearby town of the town of Vénissieux, authorities revealed.

A female participant who participated in the robbery was also apprehended, according to law enforcement.

“Six people who utilized explosives in an attack on a gold refining facility in the Lyon area were arrested at the scene,” the French interior minister declared on social media, commending law enforcement for their “decisiveness, speed and control”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were likewise seized.

The raid happened as authorities on that Thursday detained five further people, among them a key figure, in connection with the bold Louvre museum robbery.
