Both are being considered with the manager's job at the Scottish champions following the former manager's resignation on Monday.

The Manager's Position on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss referred to Celtic as "a really big football club" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "long-term project" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old took charge of Portman Road in 2021 and led them to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they won just four games last season as they were demoted back to the Championship and they currently sit twelfth place in England's second tier.

"I have not had any of those conversations," the London-born former Irish youth international said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my concentration is currently.

"I possess a special job here at a remarkable club. And we're at a crucial phase of the campaign. Everything outside of that hasn't touched my awareness."

Background and Agreement Details

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to the Scottish side given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "I don't think everyone has to publicly and announce what they used to be, but naturally it's a massive sports organization."

McKenna agreed to a new four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his reported £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he replied. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I approach this role like I will remain Town's coach forever. I know that's not always going to be the situation, but I will consistently do my best as while I am here."

Bellamy's Situation

Bellamy represented Celtic on loan from the Magpies in 2005, but the former Wales striker is inclined to complete the current World Cup qualification, a stance that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

Wales are currently in third place in their World Cup group behind leaders the Red Devils and runners-up North Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and North Macedonia in next month would secure their position in the qualification play-offs, but they are all but guaranteed of making those, due to a successful Nations League performance, even if they fail to end up their group second place.

Considering his current stance, the Wales manager, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would not be available until following the play-offs at the minimum.
