Following a week of torrential rains that resulted in floodwaters across parts of the city, LA is now seeing unseasonably hot weather for the end of February.
Record-Shattering Temperatures
On Friday midday, the temperature soared to ninety-one degrees Fahrenheit in downtown Los Angeles, according to the National Weather Service. This exceeds the prior high for February 27th, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was set just last year.
"Exceptionally warm weather" were noted on forecast charts for the region.
Safety Advisories
Forecasters stated that Friday's weather posed an "increased danger for heat illness" for people sensitive to heat. Their advice featured:
- Drinking plenty of fluids.
- Limiting outdoor activities during the peak heat of the day.
- Never leaving kids or animals unattended in a parked vehicle.

For the weekend, downtown Los Angeles can anticipate temperatures in the eighties, with a further cooldown on tap for the start of March.
